Where do you get your protein?

Good Morning, San Antonio! We are so excited to announce our new, fabulous "protein" shirt! See what happens when veggie friends get together? After watching a funny video late on Friday night, we were inspired to create this shirt.

As vegans, we're often asked, "where do you get your protein from?" Now we can answer before they ask the question with this fab shirt! With each sale, SA Vegans will make a couple of bucks toward the future of our organization, and that's great news! Let's make it catch on so that we can use our money to make an impact on San Antonio with classes, booths, and other events! Please pass this link along to the veggies in your life all over the globe. Click here to purchase: http://sanantoniovegans.spreadshirt.com/

Updates

hey, veggie friends!

what do you think of our new look? do all of the cool fonts load on your browser?

the new events calendar is up and running, and we also have a couple of new tabs we are working on. one will have local veg-friendly businesses (including yours, if you would like- send your information to shylah@sanantoniovegans.com), and one will have a way to register/login to the site. still working on more ideas to expand our forums functionality, but one thing at a time! well, sort of :)

don't forget we are looking for ideas for a group t-shirt. if you would like to submit an idea- a catchphrase, logo idea, etc- send it to shylah@sanantoniovegans.com and if we like your idea your t-shirt will be free! You have until this Friday the 20th. We haven't received any submissions yet, so you have a great chance of being picked !

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon. More to come...

San Antonio Vegans - Lots of News!

San Antonio Vegans held their kickoff dinner last night at Vegeria Vegan Tex-mex restaurant on Broadway. It was a great time of- of course- food talk, veggie talk, and getting-to-know-you's. The owners and staff at Vegeria were more than accomodating, and we anticipate coming back often! Next time you are in there, look for our kickoff poster and mission statement by their register. We are proud to have held our kickoff while eating their delicious food!

We have many new things in the works, so please read this entire post to get all the goods!

First, if you have not joined our forums yet, click over to that page (listed at the top of the site, or click here), and register. This is different than how you log in for our main blog postings. We really need to get the forums up and running to start the conversation among all of our local vegans! Once you register, click on the introductions topic and leave a reply so we can get to know you. Then jump in to one of the listed topics or start a new one!

Second, go to our Vegans Around San Antonio tab and add your marker to our map! Don't worry, it doesn't give your address or any personal info. Just pop your zip code in so we can watch the map fill up with vegans all around town, and also better plan our event locations.

Third! We have two possible events in February. One would be another dinner. We have a couple of options as to where we do that. The dinner would be either Tuesday, February 7th at Green Downtown, or Friday February 10th at The Cove. The second event would be a potluck. We have an available location with a full kitchen in Selma by Retama Park. This event should probably happen on a Saturday to give everyone meal prep time, and it looks like right now the best date for this would be February 25th. We need your feedback on these event possibilities, and also feedback about the possible location for the potluck, or other location suggestions. It will still be too cold to gather in a park but we will do that when it warms up!

Last! We are designing a t-shirt for our group, and offering a little incentive to help us come up with the design! If you have a design idea, a catchy slogan or can make a completed design for us, and we choose yours, we will buy your t-shirt for you! Submissions should be sent to shylah@sanantoniovegans.com. The cut-off date for submissions is January 20th at 6PM. The only rules are that it should reflect our group, attract others in a positive way, and we should try to keep the number of colors in the design minimal, as more colors will drive up the cost of the shirt. Once we have our final design, we will make available for ordering through an online website!
Thank you for sticking with this entire post. You made it!  We are looking forward to all of your responses both here and on our facebook page. Please drive people to this site. The more, the merrier, and the more we can do, and the bigger positive impact we can have on our community!

Much more to come via this website, so please keep checking back! Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Cheers, and happy veggie eating!

Vegeria, 7 PM, Tuesday night 1/10/12

We are so looking forward to our kickoff meeting at Vegeria Vegan Tex-Mex, 7 PM, Tuesday, 1/10/12.

Not only will we enjoy sharing a compassionate and delicious meal with one another, we will also have the opportunity to meet new veg-folks, learn more about the plant-based diet, and talk about the mission and future of our new group.

We will have seasoned vegans and veg-curious guests with us. What a treat! Hope you will all stay for dessert.

Peas & Love!
